Anxiety Isn’t Who You Are. It’s Just A Story Your Mind Keeps Telling You

I want to share something with you.


Because for a long time, I believed anxiety was just part of who I was.


I thought that lying awake at 3am with my mind racing was normal. 

That feeling of my chest tighten before every conversation was just “me.” 

That the relentless voice whispering “what if it all goes wrong?” was a price I had to pay for being ambitious, caring, alive.


But here’s what I’ve learned after working with hundreds of people over the years:


Anxiety isn’t who you are. It’s a story your mind keeps telling you.


The Story Your Mind Tells You

If you’re over 30, you’ve probably built a life with responsibilities, people who rely on you, and moments that may look great from the outside.


But inside, maybe it feels like this:

→ Replaying conversations, wondering if you said the wrong thing
→ Avoiding speaking up because your heart races
→ Feeling permanently on guard, waiting for the next “what if?”
→ Waking at night, exhausted but unable to stop thinking


Here’s the thing I wish someone had told me earlier:

The mind is a brilliant storyteller—but it doesn’t always tell the truth.

Sometimes it tells you you’re not safe, even when you are. It warns you of danger, even when there’s none. It whispers old fears from years ago, convincing you that you’re not enough, or that something terrible is about to happen.

And when those stories go unchallenged, they become your reality.


Your Unconscious Mind… Is Like An AI System


Here’s a way I often explain it to clients:


Your unconscious mind is a bit like AI programming.


→ You only get out what you put in.


If you’ve spent years feeding it instructions like “People are judging me,” or “I’m not safe,” it keeps running that code—even if your life has completely changed.


Sometimes, like AI, your mind gets the wrong end of the stick. It misunderstands the data. It sees threats where there aren’t any.


And just like an AI model, sometimes you have to go back in and adjust the instructions and programming.


Hypnotherapy is how we speak the language of that system. 

It’s how we rewrite the code that’s been running in the background, shaping how you think, feel, and react.


Why I Created The Freedom Code For Anxiety


In the past few years, I’ve worked with people who’ve carried anxiety like a silent weight for decades.


Like Emma, who used to avoid speaking up in team meetings because the thought of everyone’s eyes on her made her chest tighten and her mind go blank.


She’d rehearse what to say a hundred times, then stay silent because her anxiety convinced her she’d embarrass herself—or say the wrong thing.
